Our Learning

In Autumn 1, Art and Science are our learning journey enquiries.

 

In Art, our golden thread is ‘Still-Life’ and we are focusing on using watercolours to paint a 3D shape with shadow effects.
In Science, we will be focussing on States of Matter to conduct fair tests. We will conduct a number of different experiments and record these in different ways, ensuring fairness and reliability of results. 

 

In Maths this term, we will begin by learning the Place Value of numbers up to 1,000,000 before beginning to use the column method for both Addition and Subtraction for numbers with more than 4-digits.

RWE

Our learning focus for RWE this half term is ‘What does it mean to be a Muslim living in Britain today?’

 

​PE

We have PE on Tuesdays. Children to wear their PE kits to school on these days.​

​

Home Learning

This will be sent out on a Friday, to be completed for the following Friday. It will include: dates for your diary, spellings, handwriting, reading, and activities linked to our current learning enquiry and maths unit.

Multiplication Facts

Use Times Tables Rock Stars to practise times tables fluency.

​

Reading

Children are expected to read for 15 minutes each day. Books can be chosen from the class or school library, or one from home if they prefer.

We use the Black Belt Reader app to log our reading and answer comprehension questions.​​

Spellings

Set weekly as part of home learning and tested on Friday.
