Mini Forest School – 12th July 2018
The children really enjoyed their last session of Mini Forest School with Freddie and Kerrie. We toasted marshmallows on the fire and then went down to the Meadow (our field) and then enjoyed an ice lolly.
Week 1-3 Summer Term
Having returned from half term we have been really busy listening to rhyming stories, drawing our 'Pets' pictures with pastel crayons. Reading the 'Rainbow Fish' focusing on sharing and collaging some super Rainbow Fish. This week we have been reading 'The Tiger who came to tea' and made some delicious Tiger cakes. Yum!
Some of our Pre-school leavers have had a fantastic first settling in session with Mr Gill and looking forward to their next one next Thursday.
This week we have been doing Handa's Surprise, tasting some delicious Pineapple, Mango and Avocado as well as making some super repeating patterns with fruit, making animal masks and doing some inspired African drumming using paint brushes and musical instruments outside.
We have been enjoying lots of different activities within Pre-school over the past few weeks. The children have loved playing in our 'Beach Cafe' role play area which they painted a lovely beach backdrop for us. They are also loving playing with the 'babies' of which some of them were really lucky to have been here for our 'babies' visit from one of our children's younger twin siblings. The staff really enjoyed their visit also! This week we have been enjoying lots of messy play, making different creations, and foods.
Week 2 in Ducklings - April 2018
The children have enjoyed spending lots of time outside and have loved exploring all the different opportunities. We have been very impressed by their role playing and creativity. Lots of the children are showing us that they are starting to get ready to go to big school in September whilst our younger children are developing in confidence. Welcome Back - Summer Term 2018
We have really enjoyed being back at Ducklings and the children have loved the warmer weather. They have spent lots of time outside and it has been a pleasure to watch their imaginative games whether this is building and fixing things using the tools, making courses for the balls to travel down using the pipes, sowing seeds, mark making, having fun on the ride-ons, mixing colours using the pipettes or playing in the water. We also welcomed four new friends to Ducklings on Friday morning and they had a great time.

Week 1 - February 2018
Welcome back everyone from half term.
This week we have been settling back into our Pre-school routines as well as enjoying some lovely sunny weather! The children have been expressing an interest in 'Bugs' and we made our 'Bumble Bees' after reading 'Bumble Bear' by Nadia Shireen. We have also been painting some animal patterns to cover our 'animal' role play area.
Little Stars - Friday 19th January 2018
Each week on a Friday Mrs Adey (AKA Sophie - Relax Kids Coach) will be taking the children on a Little Stars Adventure. This week it was based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the children loved finding out about each step of the Little Stars session. We started with Move, Play, Stretch, Feel, Breathe, Believe and finally Relax with the blankets and cushions.
Week 1 - 8.1.17
This morning we had a lovely visit from Janice Tuton from Devon Fire Safety Education to talk to the children all about firefighters and fire safety. We had a story about "Frances the Firefly" which was all about fire safety and not playing with matches. Janice also taught us how to do the 'stop, drop, roll' move to also keep us safe. The children sat and listened beautifully and Janice also bought us some fantastic resources to borrow until next week. We will especially enjoy dressing up in the fire fighters costumes!
Parent Cafe - December 2017
We enjoyed welcoming some of the parents to the Parent Cafe today. We made snowman cards, ate yummy Christmas food and showed the parents what Mini Forest School is like with Freddie and Kerrie. The parents also enjoyed having a look at their Learning Journals with their children.
Christmas Play - December 2017
We have really enjoyed singing and learning how to perform our Nativity Play with Mr Gill's Class. We have enjoyed performing the play for our family and friends in the Hall.
Children In Need - Nov 2017
The children have enjoyed learning about who Pudsey Bear is and why he helps raise money for others and is so kind. We have enjoying taking part in a Non-Uniform Day with the rest of the school, decorating cakes, making Pudsey pictures and selling cakes. We helped the school raise £328.16. Many thanks to all the parents who supported and contributed towards Children in Need.
Remembrance Poppies – November 2017
We have enjoyed learning about the poppy symbol being a way that we remember and think of people who keep us safe. We have enjoyed being creative and making some poppies which are displayed in Ducklings.

Brixham Library Visit - 9th November 2017
The children really enjoyed visiting Brixham Library this week to hear some stories about the sea and the creatures that live in it. They then had the chance to be creative and make a variety of different sea creatures and pirates. Have a look at some of the photos of our adventure.
Yesterday we had a visit from Lindsey Williams who is a puppy walker and helps train Guide Dog puppies before they go onto Guide Dog training. She was accompanied by Walter her four and half month old puppy, as well as Wendy and her Guide Dog Quarry. The children loved interacting with our four legged friends and sat beautifully for them. We wish Walter all the best with his future Guide Dog training and we are positive he will make a fabulous Guide Dog.
Week 1 - Welcome back
This week we have returned to Pre-school after Half Term, ready to play and explore lots of different things. Alongside lots of exploring we have also been making shape pictures and doing some pumpkin printing paintings.
Grounds Day - Friday 20th October
The children really enjoyed taking part of Grounds Day and being part of the school family tidying the poly tunnel and sewing the Green Manure seeds in the raised vegetable beds. The children have also recently helped harvest the potatoes from our vegetable patches along with picking and eating some strawberries and raspberries.
Mini Forest School - September / October
The children have enjoyed a range of different activities including making bird feeders, making crowns. collecting and making natural pictures, toasting marshmallows on a fire, making space leaves and other activities. The children are really enjoying the activities with Freddie and Kerrie.
Displays Around Ducklings
We have been busy over the past few weeks creating some displays around Ducklings using our creative skills.
Week 5 - Owl babies, Minions and Stick Man!
These past few days we have been busy reading the story 'Owl babies' and making our own display. Please have a look on our door in the classroom at them. We have also been talking about some Nocturnal Animals. Minions are popular at the moment so we painted and created some Minion pebbles. Finally we had the story of 'Stick Man' today and made our own lovely 'Stick Men'. All this, as well as being very busy in the sand, water, gloop, playdough, our Den area, playing Doctor's and having the occasional Super hero zoom past us!
The Gruffalo - 28th and 29th September
The children loved listening to The Gruffalo story. They enjoyed making Gruffalo masks, working together as a team to create the characters from the story for our display, hunting for the characters around school and eating Purple Prickle Pancakes.
Week 4 - Sensory Play
We have been having a busy few days listening to the story of the Gingerbread Man and making our own delicious Gingerbread Men. Also making 'moon sand' and enjoying the soft texture that we could mould. We have also been loving our ' nice smelling playdough' that the children have enjoyed exploring and adding some natural objects to it.
Being Creative - Week 3
We have loved exploring different media for being creative. The children have drawn animals using pastel crayons inspired by reading Dear Zoo and other animal stories. They have also tried painting on fabric and the finished creations are displayed in Ducklings. During Mini Forest School they also made bird feeders and went off hunting for mini beasts. Mini Forest School - Thursday Afternoons
We are really excited to have Freddie and Kerrie join us on Thursday afternoons for the return of Mini Forest School. This week the children enjoyed making crowns of sticks and sparkly bits. Have a look at some of the creations.
This week we have been very busy with lots of messy play, our particular favourites have been cars in salt and flour, shaving foam and gloop. We have also been learning our 5 'Golden Rules' which are on the wall below the Interactive White Board. These are used, with photo prompts, to remind the children how to stay safe and happy at Pre-school.
We have also been learning a new 'Welcome' song which is Cbeebies 'Mr Tumble's Hello Song' and we will be posting a link to this below very soon so you can practice this at home with your children.
Week 1 - September 2017
We have had a very busy first 3 days in Ducklings and we have been so impressed with how our old and new friends have settled this week. They have loved exploring the inside and outdoor classrooms and finding out how all the toys work. Have a look at just a taste of some of the things we have been busy doing.

We would like to welcome back our older children and of course our new families that are starting with us this week. We hope that you had a fantastic summer holidays.
