Our vision for Brixham Church of England Primary School reflects the Church of England vision of education for 'Life in all its Fullness'. As a school family, we share a passionate commitment to learning and recognise the uniqueness of individual learners. Our vision is driven by our desire to offer the best possible education for our pupils in partnership with parents and the local community.
BRIXHAM CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL WILL BE A CENTRE:
• For learning, where high standards are pursued with consistency and enthusiasm.
• Where individuals are valued and helped to achieve their personal best.
• Where effective partnerships secure the success of the school.
Brixham C of E Primary School serves its community by working in partnership to provide an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice, and understanding of shared values. As a school we celebrate the diversity of the wider community and are committed to the principles of inclusion and equality of opportunity. Through our aims and values we promote and endorse the Government’s aim for every child, whatever their background or their circumstances, to have the support they need to:
• Be Healthy
• Make a Positive Contribution
• Stay Safe
• Enjoy and Achieve
• Achieve Economic Well-being
Values are fundamental expressions of what we think and believe. As a school we encourage children to think about personal and social values, to become aware of, and involved in the life and concerns of their community and society, and so develop their capacity to be active and effective future citizens.
AT BRIXHAM CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL OUR CORE VALUES ARE:
We value friendship as fundamental to the development and fulfilment of ourselves and others, and the good of the community.
Develop self-respect, and respect for others. Promote inclusion, and appreciate and value the diversity of people’s circumstances and backgrounds.
Children are encouraged to empathise with their peers and show a feeling of sympathy and sorrow for those stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.
We show forgiveness and talk about our feelings and attitudes regarding situations where people have forgotten their behaviour. We let go of negative emotions and believe in restorative justice. We all understand that forgiveness is different from condoning.
We see love as a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes. The children know that when we are talking about love we do not mean the, ‘lovey dovey, kiss kiss kind of love’ They see love as a virtue representing kindness, compassion, and affection towards other humans, one's self, nature or animals.
We value truth in the sense of honesty and integrity. Children understand the importance of being true to one’s self and the reality of the truth.
