English targets
Our English target across the school this term is focused on reading aloud to perform. This may link to poetry, prayers, plays or sections of text that children are studying. By reading aloud, initially as part of a group within the class, children will develop the confidence to perform to larger audiences.
Reading aloud also encourages others to develop their listening skills, and can therefore support a deeper understanding of texts.
Children are involved in the review and analysis of each other's performances as critical friends.
Below are some initial performances of a Pie Corbett poem that Year 5 are studying as part of their English curriculum.
