We have continued to use our hook 'How to train your dragon' to inspire the children to write a diary entry about their first encounter with Toothless. The children have used role play and lots of talk partner, small co-operative group work and whole class learning in order to help them think about their writing. We have looked at the features of writing a diary entry and have written our first draft. We are looking at editing our work with a specific focus on ensuring that we have written a full sentence that makes sense and is demarcated properly.

They will be asked questions in relation to the text with a specific focus on comprehension and understanding of the text. We also encourage the children to think about texts that we read in class in greater depth. We encourage them to think about vocabulary, inference, predict, explanation, retrieval and sequencing.
Every Monday we will be encouraging the children to visit the Library to choose a book to share at home. Please ensure that the book is returned every week so that the children can change it. We will also be encouraging them to leave a review or comment about the book so that other children can read it.
