FIRE VISIT
26.11.19
We had a fire talk today and learnt about how to stay safe. We learnt about the different roles that the Fire Service has and talked about what to do if we saw a fire or if our house was on fire. The children watched a video to explain the dangers of matches, lighters and the new technology that we have in our homes.

Week beginning 25th November 2019

This week we have been busy using our critical eye to give critique to our partner to help them improve their Art work. We used Austin's Butterfly as our hook to model to the children they were expected to do.

The children worked hard trying to improve their sketches after the feed back they had been given by their partner.
After we had improved our work we then created 3D decoupage pictures.
Please come and have a look at our amazing Art work.
Week beginning 18.11.19

The children have worked hard creating a non-chronological report about lighthouses. We have researched about different lighthouses in our whole class guided reading sessions. They have used this information in order to plan, draft and write their final piece of writing. It has been so special to watch the amazing journey that they have been on in order to write and present their work to a high standard.
We also found out a very interesting fact about the Eddystone Lighthouse that was originally in Plymouth. Ask you child what the amazing fact that we found out.
Week beginning 11.11.19
Wellie Walk
What an amazing week we have had. We have been on our wellie walk (thank you for keeping fingers crossed for fine weather!) and identified many geographical features that we have learnt about in the classroom out in the field. The children enjoyed their experience and were very keen to discuss what they had seen out in Brixham. We have also been busy finding out interesting facts about lighthouses in preparation for our writing challenge next week; where our focus will be to write a non-chronological report about lighthouses. We will also be thinking about our BIG QUESTION - 'Why are we proud to live in Brixham?'
WELLIE WALK REMINDER 11th November 2019
(fingers crossed for fine weather)

We will be going on our wellie walk tomorrow and the children need to have appropriate footwear and clothing for our inclement weather. Please pack a small snack and drink for them to take whilst we are out and about in Brixham looking at geographical features we have learnt about and the lighthouse on the Breakwater.

READING

Please can you read with your child regularly and ask questions in relation to the book. We are trying a new start to our day by encouraging the children to read quietly first thing in the morning. This will give us the opportunity to catch up with the children and ensure that their book is at the right level. If your child completes their book please put it into the blue tray by the computer and we will endeavour to complete the reading quiz the same day.
Please come and chat if you have any concerns.
MYMATHS

We will set regular challenges for the children on mymaths.

www.mymaths.co.uk

We will hand out letters to explain login and it will also have your login details on it.

If you are having any problems please come in and we will endeavour to rectify them for you.
Week beginning 4.11.19

We have continued with our geography focus this week and compared London and Brixham. We have learnt about geographical features and looked at aerial photos to identify them. We have also looked at our BIG QUESTION for this learning experience. In Year 2 our BIG QUESTION is
'Why are we proud to live in Brixham?'
This will link in with our strand of our learning experience CITIZENSHIP.
We will be going on our own welly walk on Monday next week (letter to be sent on 8.11.19) to look at at Brixham and talk about what makes Brixham special to us and look at the geographical features we have learnt about in the field.

Week beginning 28.10.19
This week we have started our learning experience. It is Geography based within our Literacy. The children have learned about where Brixham is in the big world that we live in. They have used atlases and other resources to learn about the seven continents and five oceans. We have looked at how the United Kingdom is part of Europe. We also found out that England is part of the United Kingdom and finally located Brixham in England.
