Alternatively email the school on admin.brixham@acexcellence.co.uk

Nationally, there has been a rise in the cases of domestic abuse. With restrictions on movement and fewer places open, the ability to find a safe place has reduced. Our school remains a safe place for anybody who needs us. We can be emailed or called to signpost someone in the right direction, or provide a safe place for someone to make a phone call themselves. Despite the lockdown, many agencies that offer support are still operational, see below.

Brixham C of E Primary School is taking part in Operation Encompass which runs jointly between local schools and Devon and Cornwall Police. It is a unique Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass reports to schools before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening.

The information is given in strict confidence to a school’s Key Adult to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.

Boots Pharmacy Consultation Rooms become safe spaces for victims of domestic abuse. Victims of domestic abuse will be able to access safe spaces at Boots pharmacy consultation rooms across the country, where they can contact specialist domestic abuse services for support and advice. The scheme is in response to the desperate situation facing many victims who are isolating with perpetrators during lockdown.
