As part of our commitment to promoting the fundamental British values of
- tolerance and mutual respect
- individual liberty
- the rule of law,
and to support children to reflect on the diversity of our society we explored the question
" Why is diversity a good thing?"
Our starting point was the picture book 'The Great Big Book of Families' by Mary Hoffman.
We worked on a definition of diversity (everyone being different) and then explored the examples of diversity from the book.
We tried to imagine what it would be like if everyone was the same and did the same things....
Thank you to all the children who contributed thoughtfully and confidently to our discussion.
